The Special Nature Reserve of Bessa is
situated between 300 and 400 m, below the southern slopes of Mombarone (Biella
Alps) in the province of Biella (Piedmont - Italy). It is 7.5 km2 wide and
entirely occupied by signs of the roman mine dated 2nd century B.C. with traces
of previous frequentation mostly represented by erratic engraved blocks. The
most important archaeological evidences are included in the 4.5 km2 of the
upper Terrace and are accessible through several routes. For some of them it is
better to be accompanied by a leader, as sometimes it is difficult to get one's
bearing. The Park House is in the town of Cerrione and can be easily reached
from Santhià tollgate (Torino - Milano motorway). A Visitor Centre is operative in Vermogno hamlet.
